So Jerry Falwell died today...is it ironic that he died from "heart related complications?" Perhaps it's best that he's in heaven now? I know this is kind of touchy...but was wondering your thoughts. <3
Are you implying that Falwell didn't have a heart? Just wondering....there's been lots of controversy about Falwell's life "contributions" to society on the college debate listserv.
Definitely...that's what a lot of the discussion surrounding him has been since his death. I totally get your point. It's sad, isn't it, that a few men can get together and decide to co-opt Christianity in order to fulfill their personal agendas. I, for one, was frustrated by Falwell because he seemed to care less about what Jesus would DO and more about what he could "make" Jesus do for HIM by shifting around Biblical references in order to support his agendas. I definitely don't think Jesus would advocate a homophobic, pro-rich, pro-war stance. Ok, a bit long, so I'm out. Thanks for bringing up this topic!
